Biography
Briana Ketterer MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University where she is a clinician educator on the OHSU Inpatient Palliative Care Service. Her goal is to work collaboratively to improve the lives of patients and families with serious illness. She also has a particular interest in medical education and training the next generation of clinicians. She enjoys teaching communication and primary palliative care skills.
Dr. Ketterer received her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor society. She completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University where she also served as a Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Ketterer then went to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and also completed a Master’s of Science in Medical Education. She then returned to Oregon and joined Oregon Health & Science University’s Palliative Care team. She has an appointment with the OHSU School of Medicine where she is a member of the Entrustment Group assessing the core entrustable professional activities for entering residency training. And works as a Communication Coach with the OHSU Center for Ethics. Nationally, she serves as Senior Faculty with VitalTalk and with the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) on the Curriculum & Faculty Development Committee.
