Biography
Mari Matsumoto, MSW, LCSW is an inpatient Palliative Care Social Worker at Providence Health & Services in Portland, Oregon. She was part of Cohort 4 of theUW Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care, and is Vital Talk faculty. Mari is passionate about providing holistic patient-centered care to those living with serious illness and strives to do so by eliciting and honoring personhood, championing values-based medical care, and supporting individuals in maximizing self-determined quality of life throughout their illness journey. Mari is also involved in various education efforts to grow primary palliative care by teaching palliative care principles and skills to clinicians across the system in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Outside of work, Mari enjoys relaxing at home with her family, cats, partner, and friends. She loves good Japanese food, style/design, occasional hikes, and sports bloopers.
