Biography
Zac Erekson, MD is a Palliative Care consultant at Intermountain Healthcare in St. George, UT. After training in Internal Medicine and working as a hospitalist, he completed fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of Iowa. His interest in palliative care began early in medical school, when he did research in using goals of care as a framework for making code status decisions. Later, in fellowship, he was introduced to VitalTalk, which further fueled his passion for training in serious illness communication. While practicing in Boise, ID, he joined the faculty of the UW Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care, and he worked to raise awareness of palliative care and serious illness communication within his health system. When he is not working, he spends time with his wife and 3 children, enjoying hiking and other outdoor recreation in particular.
